Staying active and being in shape are not only important for our physical fitness, but also plays a key role in our mental fitness too. Whether you’re a recovering couch potato or a regular exerciser, there are a ton of great apps out there to help you begin, or continue, your fitness program.

Looking for a starting place, check out some of these favorites!

Built with the living room workout in mind, the NTC allows you to customize your training plan to fit your current fitness level and lifestyle. Oh yeah, and it’s free (worth mentioning twice!)
  • Adidas Training by Runtastic

You’ll also have access to four free training plans. You can also take part in active challenges, track progress and read blog posts. Paid upgrades optional.
  • Daily Workouts Fitness Trainer
Available for iOS and Android, it's great for beginners and seasoned workout veterans alike. This free download gives you quick workouts, plenty of HD videos, and hundreds of targeted exercises. These are quick and effective workouts perfect to use wherever you are.
  • Zombies, Run!
Looking for something a little different, then this might be the perfect answer. Zombies, Run!, available on Google Play and the App Store, is a free app (with in-app purchases available) that combines exercise with an interactive game platform. Join 5 million runners (and walkers) on an epic adventure as you join an ultra-immersive game/workout to escape attacking zombies and save the world.

You don’t have to be in a fancy gym surrounded by expensive equipment to enjoy a great workout and stay fit. Throw on a pair of shorts and t-shirt, and break a sweat today. Stay well.
