The Purpose of Spina Bifida Awareness Month
The goal of Spina Bifida Awareness Month is to increase the awareness of its community and in particularly their needs, opportunities for support, legislative advocacy efforts and advancements in research. While this condition may not affect all children the same, the majority of individuals with Spina Bifida require numerous surgeries, which can be very expensive. Through fundraising events, the Spina Bifida Association (SBA) works to make a distinct difference in the lives of those with the condition.
While funds are raised year-round, October is a special month for the community to raise funds to allocate at the local level in the following ways:
You can contribute by donating your time or money to help the cause and/or through spreading the word to educate others on Spina Bifida. Below are some ways you can join in the fight against this condition not only during October but throughout the year.
