As we move into colder months and what is traditionally flu season, it’s a great time to build up our body’s defenses. Eating right is a key part of a healthy immune system, and so easy to overlook when things get busy!

Here are a few quick reminders.

  • Fiber Fit
Don’t forget your whole grains, faro, quinoa, lentil, bran, chia seeds, fruits and vegetables.
  • Healthy Fats
Flax seeds, peanut butter (yum!), avocado, olive oil, and fatty fish.Heatlhy Eating123
  • Lean Protein
Include eggs, chicken, fish, turkey, beans and tofu for a healthy mix.
  • Zinc
Good sources include meat, shellfish, whole grains, legumes, grains, nuts and dark chocolate (you’re welcome!).
  • Vitamin C
More than just citrus fruits, also try leafy greens, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers.
  • Antioxidants
Blueberries, strawberries, beets, red cabbage, artichokes and dark chocolate!
  • Probiotics
Sure yogurt is great, but also look for kombucha, kimchi, kefir, and sauerkraut.

Take the time to take care of yourself and stay well!
