Let the countdown to summer begin!
After a summer shutdown last year, and with increasing vaccination rates and dropping COVID-19 cases, this summer promises to be much more fun. Here are some common-sense suggestions on how to get ready for your return to summer!
Plan Your Fun in Advance
Start putting together your summer bucket list now to squeeze every last drop of fun from the next few months.
The sooner you book, the less likely you are to be disappointed down the road.
Never Too Soon to Tone-up
This isn’t really about losing weight or taking up some crazy fitness routine…it’s about getting ready physically and emotionally for summer.
Start focusing on better hydration to prepare for the summer heat. Work on your cardio before jumping into summertime activities like hiking, swimming, and outdoor sports. Add some light weights to your exercise routine to regain winter muscle tone loss. It will pay off come June!
Embrace Fresh Produce
Fresh fruits and veggies are one of the many blessings of summer. Take full advantage! Grocery stores, produce stands and farmer’s markets are full of freshly grown goodies – from succulent strawberries to corn on the cob – it’s the time of the year to enjoy the best mother nature has to offer.
Don’t Forget Skincare
Fresh air and sunshine, nothing beats summer. In fact, the sun is your best source for vitamin D, but too much of anything can be harmful. That is why it’s so important to find a great sunscreen to use, something that provides a minimum SPF 30 or higher protection. And, don’t forget, many cosmetic products on the market offer a summer version that includes sunscreen for extra protection.
Make Time for Family Fun
Summertime is great for family time. Whether it’s visiting a local amusement park, playing catch in the backyard, roasting hot dogs on the grill, having a picnic in the park, or one of a thousand other activities available to you, let the summer of 2021 be a time to make family memories that last a lifetime.
Sit down with your family. Talk with your kids about what would make this summer special. Make a list of places to go and things to do. Get excited. Remember, half the fun is the anticipation of what’s to come.
As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, we can all enjoy the prospect of what summer 2021 will bring. Let’s make this the best summer ever…we deserve it.
Stay well.
